South Baltimore Business Roundup
One new business has opened and one will be opening soon on Charles St. in the Federal Hill Business District. The Bridal Suite has opened at 1126 S. Charles St. in the former home of a Dog Bakery. Baltimore Nutrition will be opening at 1005 S. Charles St. Their sign says “Building a Healthy Lifestyle in Baltimore.”
Shoyou Sushi Opens
Soho Eatery at 1504 Light St. has reopened as Shoyou Sushi. The restaurant, now under new management, underwent an interior renovation that created a bar and several tables. A new flat screen television was also added. They will be open Monday through Saturday from 11am-3pm for lunch and 5-10pm for dinner on Monday through Thursday and 5-10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. A friend of mine that has already tried Shoyou described it as “excellent.”
Surprisingly I run into a number of people in the area who haven’t heard of HarborQue, which is shocking considering how great their Carolina-style BBQ is. HarborQue is located at 1421 Lawrence St., a pass through between Fort Ave. and Key Hwy. HarborQue has added a large new sign on the side of the building that should help many more people notice the BYOB BBQ restaurant. The sign features a large pig and reads, “Legendary Carolina BBQ.”
McDonald’s Completes Renovation
With all of the great local businesses in South Baltimore, the McDonald’s on Fort Ave. can become an afterthought, but I must say I am really impressed with their new renovation. The interior features larges walls of art and a flat screen TV. The outside features piled stone and creative uses of steel and metal. It looks sharp and is another great asset to the Southside Marketplace.
New Carwash at Royal Farms
The Royal Farms at Key Hwy. is putting the finishing touches on a new window encased carwash. The new carwash is located at the eastern edge of the gas station’s property.
