Social Pub & Pie at 25 East Cross St., which took over the space previously occupied by Grumpies and Federal Hill Lounge, has been sold to one of the owners of Armadillos Bar & Grill, which is located in the historic City Dock section of Annapolis. Social is expected to close for a couple weeks starting around March 1st for renovations and rebranding.
The north side of Cross St. is certainly undergoing a new look as Stuggy’s has signed a lease for one of the two spaces created in the space of the old M&T Bank. We are awaiting news about the other new tenant and will keep you posted.
Carnivore BBQ Opens at Hollins Market
Popular Washington, DC-area food truck Carnivore BBQ has opened their first brick and mortar location inside the historic Hollins Market. We’re told if you smell the smoke, you’re close. Hollins Market is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7am-6pm. Carnivore BBQ is also hoping to start a Baltimore foot truck in the future. From their website:
At Carnivore BBQ, we try our best to deliver fresh, wholesome, gourmet caliber food. We blend care with craft, art, and only the finest ingredients to create our signature dishes. We locally source our provisions and prepare from scratch our own slaws, sauces, and rubs. The pit master roasts our meats slowly over real hard-wood. In fact, it takes 22 hours to smoke both our brisket and pulled pork.
More Hollins Market Updates
Many people have been buzzing about the news of the return of the original owners of Zella’s Pizzeria, Julie Ernst and Cem Ari, to the Hollins Market restaurant located at 1145 Hollins St. Before selling the restaurant in 2010, Zella’s was known as one of the best pizza pies in Baltimore under their leadership.
A sign in the window currently reads, “Zella’s will soon return to the original ownership and reopen in late March.” The location has been undergoing renovations over the last couple of months and we look forward to its opening.
In January, SouthBMore.com reported that Herb and Soul would be taking over 1114 Hollins St. in the former home of Baltimore Pho, but the Sun’s Richard Gorelick is reporting that Herb & Soul will unfortunately not move ahead with those plans.
Down at the Ocean, Hon!
SouthBMore.com has reported about the many South Baltimore bars that have opened second locations in the suburbs and now two local bars will be trying their luck at the beach. The Ropewalk family of bars, which includes Ropewalk, Delia Foley’s, Stalking Horse and Dark Horse, will be opening a bar in Fenwick this summer at 700 Coastal Highway called Ropewalk Fenwick. Abbey Burger Bistro will be opening a second location in Ocean City and we’ll let you know more about the exact location and opening date soon. Now you will officially get some Federal Hill flair down at the ocean!
Windows for Tommy’s
Pigtown sports bar Tommy’s Downtown Tavern will get brightened up with some natural light as they recently added two new windows to the front of the restaurant.
