The Orioles today announced an updated list of their series of “We Won’t Stop” rallies to generate excitement for the team’s postseason run.
Leadership from the neighborhood associations of Federal Hill, Federal Hill South, Riverside, and South Baltimore, along with Delegates Clippinger and McHale, and Councilman Cole’s office, met with Southern District (SD) Police leadership on Thursday (8/21).

On Thursday, April 17, 2014, a public safety forum was held for the Southern District of Baltimore City at the National Federation of the Blind in Riverside. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Commissioner Anthony W. Batts, Major Ian Dombroski, Fire Chief Niles Ford, and many police officers from the Southern District were on hand to address the safety concerns from residents of South Baltimore neighborhoods.

The Southern District Public Safety Forum will take place on Thursday, April 17 at the National Federation of the Blind led by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Commissioner Anthony W. Batts.
The Baltimore City Police Department Southern District, which includes the South Peninsula, Pigtown, SoWeBo, Cherry Hill, Curtis Bay, Morrell Park and areas around Middle Branch, has experienced a 17% decrease in crime this year through March 15, 2014 compared to the beginning of last year through March 15, 2013.
The Southern District Explorers program is raising money for a summer trip to the 2014 National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference in Bloomington, Indiana. Through the Explorers program, youth are partnered with police officers who serve as mentors and teach them about good citizenship, community involvement, and leadership skills.
Baltimore Sun’s Justin Fenton reported that Mother’s Federal Hill Grille was robbed at gunpoint at 6:50am by four masked men and were robbed of wallets, cell phones and personal cash. Mothers has announced that everyone is ok, and they reopened for business at 11am: The suspects are still at large.
Although 2013 ended with a homicide in Sharp-Leadenhall on December 31st, South Baltimore’s Sector 4 saw a significant decrease in crime in 2013. Sector 4 includes the neighborhoods of Otterbein, Sharp-Leadenhall, Federal Hill, Federal Hill South, SBNA, Riverside, Locust Point, Ridgely’s Delight, Stadium Area, and portions of Barre Circle.
