Giada De Laurentiis and Gordon Ramsay to Open Restaurants at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore

Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis has announced she is opening a new restaurant at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore. De Laurentiis and Horseshoe made it official last week with the unveiling of a banner on the side of the casino. The new restaurant is expected to open in early 2018.

The new restaurant will replace Johnny Sanchez, which closed last month and was owned by John Besh and Aaron Sanchez. This will be De Laurentiis’ second restaurant as she also owns Giada at The Cromwell in Las Vegas. The Crowmell and Horseshoe are both owned by Caesars Entertainment.

From The Baltimore Sun:

While de Laurentiis’ new restaurant is still in its planning stages, she said the menu will focus on “antipasti and pasta, the way that real Italians eat.” It will be “way more casual and accessible” than her first restaurant, the fine-dining Giada at the Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas.

And from Baltimore Business Journal:

Regarding the restaurant space, she said, “Right now, “it’s cold. It’s a very masculine space,” she said. When renovations are finished, “It’s going to warm; it’s going to be like welcoming people into my own home.”

Also from Baltimore Business Journal:

“It’ll be nice because it’s me and the boys again,” she said. “I think it’s the three essentials of what you’d want in a casino: burgers with Guy, steak with Gordon and pasta with me.”

Another change coming to Horseshoe is the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak at the former home of Jack Binion’s Steak. It is expected to open before the end of the year. Ramsay is a multi-Michelin-star chef and his television shows include Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” “The F Word with Gordon Ramsay,” and “MasterChef.”

“I’m thrilled to be coming to Baltimore, a really exciting and emerging culinary city,” Ramsay said in a press release issued this summer. “Our exceptional team is developing a menu that will combine the best dry-aged beef, finest seafood and freshest locally-sourced ingredients to create a unique Charm City dining experience.”

De Laurentiis and Ramsay join fellow television chef Guy Fieri at Horseshoe. Fieri owns Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen + Bar and Guy’s Bar-B-Que Joint.
