Spiritas opened last Friday at 786 Washington Blvd. in the heart of Pigtown Main Street. Spiritas is a high-end store that carries a large craft beer, wine and liquor selection as well as cheese, hummus and snacks. They will be open Monday through Saturday from noon to 7pm and will accept debit and credit cards only.
Pigtown is having a nice wave of momentum with the recent openings of Tilted Pig, ReVamp Variety, Pigtown Main Street and Spiritas, which have all joined Washington Blvd., as well as a new sports bar in the works called Touch Down at 1169 Hamburg St. at the former home of Carl’s Little House. The nearby Horseshoe Casino also recently began construction and the Baltimore Sun listed Pigtown as one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city for future appreciation.
Dirty Oars Tavern to Replace Lime
The former location of Lime at 801 E. Fort Ave. has been purchased and is undergoing interior renovations. A new sign also went up this week that reads ‘Dirty Oars Tavern.’ The location has been vacant since Lime went out of business a couple years ago. We’ll keep you posted when we have more information.
Ritz Carlton Residences Have a Big 2012
We have extensively covered the large rebound the South Baltimore real estate market had in 2012 and it appears the luxury condos at Ritz Carlton Residences need to be added to that list. Baltimore Sun is reporting that 31 condos were sold in 2012 with 13 closing in December. From the article:
“In December there were 22 properties that sold for $1 million or more in the Baltimore metro region — and nearly a third of them were at the Ritz-Carlton Residences on the Inner Harbor, according to records recently released by an affiliate of the region’s multiple-listing service.
Of the Ritz-Carlton’s 190 homes, 116 were spoken for as of mid-January, Graziose said, and he’s expecting this year to be another good one for sales. He’s confident the condo complex will be sold out by the middle of next year, he said.”
Under Armour Continues to Soar
Under Armour has become a huge part of South Baltimore and the athletic apparel company continues to grow and make their mark in the sports industry. The Baltimore Business Journal is reporting that Under Armour saw a 54% increase in the fourth quarter of 2012 and saw a $363 million increase in revenue.
Under Armour certainly has big plans for Locust Point as they are planning a 400,000 square foot expansion to their headquarters and has agreed to donate to money for improvements of Latrobe Park and the recreation center, Fort Ave. streetscape and new neighborhood signs. Under Armour has also recently moved employees to available space at the Phillips Headquarters and are also about to open a new retail store at the base of the Legg Mason Building in Harbor East.
Locust Point was also listed in the Baltimore Sun as one of hottest neighborhoods in the city for future appreciation.
